A highly successful wine Masterclass dedicated to Ponte da Boga wines took place on Friday, November 22, 2024, at Novinophobia in Limassol. The event, which attracted wine enthusiasts and industry professionals, featured the presence of Javi Ordas De Villota, Export Director of the Grandes Pagos Gallegos group, who showcased the uniqueness and heritage of Ribeira Sacra.
During the Masterclass, participants had the opportunity to explore:
- The history of Ponte da Boga, the oldest winery in Ribeira Sacra, crafting wines that reflect the power of heroic vineyards.
- The winemaking techniques and philosophy of the Grandes Pagos Gallegos group, which emphasizes the distinct character of Galicia’s native grape varieties.
- The rich flavors and unique aromatic profiles of selected Ponte da Boga labels.
Guests enjoyed a carefully curated selection of wines, including award-winning labels that highlight the distinctive terroir of Ribeira Sacra and the heroic cultivation of vineyards on steep slopes. Notable among these were the expressive Godello and Mencía varieties, along with the exceptional Pizzarras y Esquistos 2021, which earned a gold medal at the international competition @mondialdesvinsextremes.
Mr. Ordas De Villota captivated the audience with his insights into the concept of Ribeira Sacra’s “heroic vineyards,” cultivated on challenging inclines with deep respect for nature and tradition.
